Veterinary Doctor

Dr. Gary R. White

Gary R. White

Originally from Simsbury, CT., and a short time in Pennington, N.J., Dr. White attended Bates College in Lewiston, ME. He then obtained his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the Iowa State University in 1989. After graduation, he was fortunate to have worked with Dr. Raymond Weitkamp. Dr. Weitkamp’s 8 years of mentorship provided Dr. White a great learning environment. Dr. White learned many advanced procedures, including TPLO, fracture repair, and spinal surgery. He also learned the “art” of practice…providing excellent care, in an ethical, professional, and friendly manner.

After 18 years working for a corporately owned practice, Dr. White pursued his dream of ownership. That vision led to the Huntington Veterinary Hospital, Inc., a hospital functioning by providing simply the best in veterinary care. Dr. White keeps current with the latest in care, through extensive continuing education.

When he’s not helping your pet, Dr. White enjoys woodworking, metalworking, photography, motorcycling, SCUBA, and water skiing. He is supervised by his cat “Sasquatch.”

Practice Manager

Danielle Shahak

Danielle Shahak

Danielle joined our family in 2008 after working at another veterinary hospital in 2006. Born and raised in Southern California, Danielle has always loved her animals; ranging from dogs, fish, hamsters, lovebirds and a Gecko, to now being owned by her Boxer dog “Guy” whom she is completely in love with.  He always keeps her laughing.  She also lives with her shorthaired cat “Kiki,” who was brought in to HVH with a stray litter as week old kittens. When she is not at the hospital, she enjoys boating, exercising, hiking, watching baseball games, and relaxing and spending time with her husband and two young sons.

Registered Veterinary Technicians

Dana , Licensed Veterinary Technician
RVT

Dana

Dana joined the HVH team in January 2007, bringing 30 years of experience in the veterinary care field with her. Early in her life, Dana wanted to become a veterinarian, but found her job as a veterinary technician gives her all the challenge and enjoyment she could want from a profession. In her free time, Dana enjoys bird watching, cooking, baking, gardening (when the gophers aren’t winning) and most of all spending time with her husband, Michael, and her Labrador, Mac.

Alex, Licensed Veterinary Technologist

Alex, Licensed Veterinary Technologist

Alex is a Registered Veterinary Technologist, or RVTg, earning her license in August of 2016. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Animal Health Science and a Minor in Chemistry. She graduated top of her class and with honors. Alex is currently working on starting on her Masters of Science in Biomedical Science with an emphasis in Veterinary Medicine. She will be focusing on neurohumoral control in response to the cardiorespiratory system in health and diseases. Her passion for animals and her care-giving nature has led her into the veterinary field and she loves what she does. She lives with her two fur-babies “Rex” and “Hadrian” pictured here with her. In her spare time Alex volunteers once a week to teach horseback riding in a military drill style to a young group of about 12-15 children and has been doing so for over 12 years. She also is an avid traveler and loves to explore and be outdoors. With the education and experiences she gains Alex hopes to give back when she is no longer able to work directly in the hospital setting and end up with a career in the field of teaching.

Groomer

Nikki

Nikki’s passion for dogs began when she was 11 years old after watching the Disney movie “Big Red.” After watching that movie, she decided that what she wanted to do when she grew up was “raise and train Irish Setters” at the ripe age of 11. After moving to Los Angeles in 1986 she got a job working in a training/boarding kennel and that was it. This kennel gave her the opportunity to not only learn all about taking care of dogs but also how to train dogs based on each breed and individual’s unique personality and needs. She does masterful work with grooming and we couldn’t be happier to have her working with us!

Hospital Cats

Chester
Professional Lounger and Original HVH Mascot

Chester

Chester can often be found on top of the office printer, warming after a quick print and a stretch.  If you can't find him there, check the lap of one of our receptionists.  He is a sucker for a good petting, and is never in a hurry to leave any spot where a good head scratching can be bargained for.  He is our original orange guy, apparently starting the latest trend in the "Orange is the New Hospital Cat Color" series.

Duckie
Professional Cat Who Thinks He's a Dog and HVH Mascot

Duckie

Duckie is the life of the party.  Never wanting to be left out, you can usually find him either walking across the keyboards while attempting to check in a client, climbing up the pantleg of the next unsuspecting victim, or purring heavily while climbing up and licking your face without any plans to stop.  Brother to "Carson", he is exceptionally loving in tune with his surroundings and his HVH people.  If you are ever having an off day, come on in for some duck-lovin.  He is sure to turn anyone's day right side up!
